Our story

Hi! I’m Lori, owner and maker of Restored Apothecary. I have been making candles since 2012 and it truly is my passion! I always knew that I wanted to be a business owner/creator . I was raised by my grandparents and my grandfather was a wood worker. As a child I would spend countless hours in his workshop playing, day dreaming and watching him create beautiful pieces of furniture which truly inspired me.

After years of trying just about every type of art and craft, I fell in love with making candles. I officially opened my candle business in 2015 and was going strong, but in 2020 during the middle of the pandemic, we made a cross country move, I was raising a teenager, became a caregiver for a special needs family member and running my own business. I was literally taking care of Everything and Everyone, but myself. I became mentally and physically exhausted.

This is where my self-care journey began. After settling into our new home in Orange County, CA, I started incorporating self-care into my daily life. I realized there were many things that I could do to relax and de-stress! I started by dedicating 30 minutes to myself, lighting one of my candles and deep breathing. One of our most powerful senses is the sense of smell. A scent can trigger pleasant feelings of nostalgia, have positive effects on your mood, help with stress reduction, sleep, and even self-confidence! Using candles is one of the best ways to show yourself some love! The rest is history…I since have re-branded my candle business, added other items that I use to my shop and now I have a strong focus on SELF CARE and helping others to take care and “Restore” themselves!
